Mie’s note :
“Crystallized Beauty Resonating in Paris”
The first time I set foot on foreign soil after leaving Japan, it was in Paris. How many years has it been since then? I was breathless at the sight of the cityscape illuminated by orange streetlights. The mesmerizing beauty made me dizzy, it stirred my heart, and I was completely captivated. I can never forget that moment, even now.
This time, I will focus on the works of four composers who were active in Paris: Stravinsky, Poulenc, Ysaÿe, and Lekeu. How did the city of Paris appear to them? With their admiration, dreams, the hustle and bustle, the frenzy, and the various emotions during a time of uncertain social conditions, how did they face these and bring forth new sounds?
What they created connected to the future, and time continues to turn. Although the scenery may seem familiar, it takes us to a new place.
